Orange pie

Orange pie

This orange pie recipe was the perfect excuse for a day of joy. I believe that a nice sweet can cheer us up and we all need those simple things in life that fill us with smiles.

That’s how I prepared this orange pie. It’s a classic recipe and so aromatic that I’ve been thinking about making it for a long time because oranges are now in season.

I started with the syrup and boiling the oranges and the house was filled with aromas! So how can you not cheer yourself up?

After some time the orange pie came out of the oven and was ready to receive the syrup. We struggled to keep her warm and counted the hours until the afternoon when she would be ready. We sat comfortably on the sofa and from the very first bite, even our mustaches were laughing!

Execute Recipe

  1. We start by preparing the crust sheet and the syrup for the orange pie.
  2. In a small saucepan, add the ingredients for the syrup and once it boils for a few minutes and thickens slightly, check if the sugar has dissolved and then remove it from the heat and let it cool completely.
  3. In another pot, add 2 oranges, cover them with water and boil them for 1 hour to let them become bitter.
  4. At the same time, spread the crust leaves on baking sheets to dry. They will take close to 1 hour. Alternatively, we can put them in the oven at 50°C in the air for 20 minutes.
  5. Once the leaves are dry, break them into small pieces in a bowl.
  6. After one hour, strain the oranges and put them in cold water to cool.
  7. Once they have cooled, clean their stalks, cut them into 8, remove any seeds and excess liquid and place them in the mixer cutter.
  8. Add the sugar, yogurt, vanilla extract, eggs, Flora Soft with extra butter melted and the baking powder and beat well until we obtain a smooth and uniform cream.
  9. We empty this cream into a large container and add in portions the pieces from the crust sheet, stirring constantly to incorporate them properly.
  10. Lightly grease a 20×30 cm dish Flora Soft with extra butter and pour the mixture for the orange pie into it.
  11. Bake the orange pie in a preheated oven at 170°C in the air for about 45 minutes or until it acquires a golden color.
  12. Remove the orange pie from the oven and immediately syrup it hot with the cold syrup.
  13. Wait 10-15 minutes for the orange pie to absorb all the syrup and let it cool completely before cutting it.
  14. We serve the orange pie plain or with ice cream of our choice.
