Beef stew is one of my favorite foods and this particular recipe is very easy and perfect for winter. The beef broth with the vegetables in this recipe is ideal for the potato gnocchi and the result is a hearty and nutritious recipe for children and the whole family.
Recipe for Veal Casserole with Gnocchi
Preparation time: 70 minutes
Portions: 4-6
Recipe ingredients
- 1 kg beef shoulder
- 3 colorful peppers
- 1 large onion
- 500 gr. grated tomato
- 4 spoons of olive oil
- 1 glass of red wine
- 2-3 cloves of garlic
- 1/3 nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- water
- salt
- pepper
Execute Recipe
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot and sauté the beef cut into pieces.
- After a few minutes, when it has taken on color, add the chopped onion and saute for a few more minutes, stirring regularly.
- Add the mashed garlic, mix and extinguish with the red wine.
- Wait 1-2 minutes for the alcohol to evaporate and add the grated tomato and the peppers cut into 3 cm pieces.
- On top we rub the nutmeg, add the rest of the spices and mix our food.
- We add a little water to cover our ingredients, cover the pot and boil for 1.5-2 hours at low intensity.
- Tip: for a quick result we can use a pressure cooker and as soon as we close the lid, boil for 1 hour only.
- Once the beef is tender and our food is ready, add the potato gnocchi and cook for 3-4 minutes, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- We serve hot veal with gnocchi in deep dishes and accompany it with a full glass of red wine.
