Mac and Cheese with Lobster

Mac and Cheese with Lobster

Lobster Mac and Cheese is a variation on the classic American Mac n Cheese recipe with a long history. It is a quick and very tasty meal with coral pasta, béchamel and cheeses. The combination of these ingredients is what makes the difference from simple macaroni and cheese.

The variations of the classic Macaroni and Cheese are particularly impressive, and I was similarly impressed during a trip to New York.

We had reservations for dinner at the steakhouse Del Frisco’s with loved ones and I was looking forward to enjoying a classic American steak. When we sat down and started perusing the menu, I immediately spotted the “Lobster Mac n Cheese” appetizer and thought I had to try it.

Its taste is indescribable!

Rich and creamy texture from the cheeses, with lobster aroma and pieces of cleaned lobster with the pasta. It was really a great dish.

Since then I have been making this recipe often and now I am sharing it here with you.

Execute Recipe

  1. Heat water in a large pot and boil the lobster for 6 minutes. The water should slightly cover the lobster.
  2. Remove the lobster to a plate and in the broth we have, boil the short macaroni, according to the manufacturer’s instructions to keep it al dente.
  3. At the same time, clean the lobster. We remove the crumbs from the tail, head and jaws. Chop the cleaned lobster into small pieces and place it in a bowl.
  4. Mas soon as our pasta is boiled, drain it, put it back in the pot with the olive oil and mix it so that it doesn’t stick.
  5. Then we heat the milk to proceed with the béchamel.
  6. Pour 40 g of the butter into a new saucepan to melt at medium temperature. Then add the flour and mix continuously with a wire for 2-3 minutes. Gradually add the hot milk and mix again until we have a uniform béchamel.
  7. Grate some nutmeg on top, taste and add some salt and pepper. Remove the pot from the stove, add the grated cheeses and mix vigorously.
  8. As soon as the cream cheese with the béchamel is ready, add the chopped macaroni together with the chopped lobster and mix.
  9. Pour the lobster mac n cheese mixture into an ovenproof dish or smaller ones.
  10. In a multi-cutter, crumble the bread and then mix it with the remaining 20 g of the butter, after first melting it.
  11. Sprinkle this bread mixture over the mac and cheese and bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C in the air for about 15 minutes. As soon as the bread crumbs take color, remove the food from the oven and let it stand for 5 minutes.
  12. We serve the Mac and Cheese with Lobster and enjoy it with chilled drink.
