Homemade almond milk

Homemade almond milk

Today I bring you one recipe very easy and we can all do at home. homemade almond milk, a delicious alternative to replace cow’s milk, for those who cannot take lactose, it is a good alternative. A benefit of the almond milk it’s that it doesn’t taste the same as cow’s milk, which is sometimes unpleasant for some people who don’t like it. Almond milk has its own flavor; with a light and pleasant nutty tone, but it does have the same consistency as cow’s milk, so you can use it for the same purpose. I make myself some coffees with milk in the morning, which I love. It also has fewer calories than soy milk, it is totally natural, vegetable and balanced, it is not made up of any kind of preservatives or additives and is gluten-free, with a lot of nutrients, vitamins, fiber and beneficial properties for our health. It also helps in reducing weight and cholesterol.

Ingredients

  • 250g. almonds raw
  • 850ml. Mineral water bottle
  • Sugar, honey, cinnamon or vanilla extract (optional)

Execute Recipe

The first thing we must do is put the almonds in a large container with bottled water, and leave them to soak for 12 to 24 hours, so that they hydrate, and it is easier to extract the milk from them. So we can put them on the night before. It is not necessary to remove the skin as it does not influence the flavor.
The next day, we drain the almonds, the soaking water, we will see that it has taken on a brown color, we discard it, since we are going to use new water. Rinse the almonds well to remove all impurities.

  1. We have the almonds and a jug with bottled mineral water, approximately 850 ml of water.
  2. We are introducing the almonds in the juice extractor, alternating with the water, that is, a handful of almonds and a jet of water, and so on until all the almonds are finished. The amount of water is relative, it all depends on how thick we like it, if we want the milk to be thicker and creamier, we add less water, and if we like it more loose, then we add a little more. As the milk comes out we see how it looks. Normally, it is usually, for example: a cup of almonds and 4 cups of water, but I tell you, this is to everyone’s taste.
  3. If we want to drink it directly, we can add sugar, honey, cinnamon, or a splash of vanilla extract. I have not added anything to it, because I like its flavor as it is, and also so I can use this almond milk as a base for other preparations, for example delicious ice creams, fruit shakes and Smoothies, creams or purees. Its flavor is delicious and a good substitute for those who cannot take lactose.
  4. Next, we strain the almond milk into a cloth, gauze, mesh or one of those cotton strainers, to remove the rest of the small impurities that may have remained.
The remains of almond pulp, do not even think about throwing it away, it will help you to make a delicious sponge cake, a crumble, a financier, granola, etc. Even if we grind it fine, it can be used as almond flour.
  5. If you do not have a juice extractor, you can make the almond milk in a blender, for example, in this case we add all the hydrated almonds to the container, half the water more or less, grind and then continue adding more water as we like. thick. We strain the same later and ready.
  6. We transfer the almond milk to a container or bottle with a lid, and store it in the fridge, very fresh it is delicious. I advise you to shake the bottle a little each time you go to drink, since a little sediment remains at the bottom, you move it a little and that’s it. Of course, we must consume it in a maximum of three days.
